How To Access PHPMyAdmin on WPAlpha

phpMyAdmin is a tool that allows you to manage your MySQL databases. Your WordPress content and settings live in a database, and phpMyAdmin lets you look at and work with it directly in your browser. In this video we walk you through accessing phpMyAdmin in your WP Alpha hosting admin console. There are two ways to get there, and both take only a few clicks.

Step by step: from the WordPress tab

  1. Log in to the hosting admin console and open your site.
  2. On the WordPress tab, click Database. A panel slides in from the side.
  3. Click the link to open the database in phpMyAdmin.
  4. phpMyAdmin opens in a new browser window, already connected to that site’s database.

Step by step: from Databases

  1. Click Databases in the left sidebar.
  2. Find the database for your site in the list.
  3. Click phpMyAdmin next to it. It opens that database directly.

Things to check

  • You may see more than one database listed under Databases. If you are not sure which one belongs to your site, use the WordPress tab route instead, because it opens the database for the site you are working on.
  • The Databases screen has other tools besides phpMyAdmin, including database user management and backups.
  • Changes you make in phpMyAdmin apply to the live database straight away. Take a backup of the database before you edit or delete anything, so you have something to go back to.
