Website migration checklist

The list our team works through on every move. Use it if you are moving to us, or moving anywhere. This template replaces the current knowledge-base article of the same name; the live article's content should be carried across [VERIFY].

Before the move

  • Lower the DNS TTL to 300 seconds at least 24 hours before switching.
  • Export a full backup and keep your own copy.
  • List every form, and send a test through each one after the move.
  • List every tracking tag: analytics, ads conversion, call tracking, consent.
  • Note the email setup: who sends mail from the domain, and where MX points.
  • Export the redirect list.

After the move

  • Test checkout with a real card and refund it.
  • Check the SSL certificate and HTTPS redirect.
  • Re-run the free Core Web Vitals report and compare.
  • Watch Search Console for crawl errors for two weeks.
  • Cancel the old host only after the last DNS change has propagated.
